Sororal art is a form of activist artistic expression embodied by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. It combines performance, reclaimed spirituality, subversive humor, and community engagement. Through makeup, costume, ritual, speech, and presence, this art seeks to provoke, educate, comfort, and unite. It is an art of giving, of the streets, of flamboyant visibility in service of 2SLGBTQIA+ causes and social justice.
The Montreal convent is also a creative and inventive space. We carry out small craft projects and create items useful, whimsical, but always practical as well as various other creations that are sold at the events to which we are invited. All proceeds from these sales, along with the donations collected by the Sisters, are entirely reinvested in our charitable actions for the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
